How Do I Recover?

The  aim of this treatment is to make things better for the individual and their loved ones. Once diagnosed, the treatment doctor/specialist can suggest one or more of the following treatment plans:

  • Detoxifcation & withdrawal therapy:
  • This combined treatment shows promising results in many cases. This  treatment is advised to be carried out by healthcare professionals.
  • Chemical dependency treatment programs:

These combined therapies explain the danger of drug addiction. The treatment specialist usually decides on which treatment elements to include in  the  program.

  • Behavior therapy:

Another combined treatment plan performed by a psychologist, psychiatrist, or a licensed alcohol/drug counselor.

  • Peer support groups:

Narcotics Anonymous and Alcoholics Anonymous are support groups available for people with drug addiction disorders.

Conclusion: Substance use disorder (SUD) or drug addiction is a major issue in the world we   live in today. You or your loved ones may be struggling with this   condition. Even though there is no specific treatment for SUD, with the   help of heart to heart conversations and evidence-based treatment  plans  under specialist supervision there is a high chance of overcoming  this addiction and claiming your life back.

Don’t lose hope because help for you is right here!

Drug Addiction Facts & Stats

Most people who suffer with substance abuse disorder (SUD) tend to hide their condition and prefer not to be vocal about it.

However, a staggering number of people in the U.S. struggle with the same condition.

  • As  per the National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 19.7 million  adults in  the U.S. battled SUD in 2017 (individuals who are aged 12 and  older).
  • About 74% of those adults struggled with an alcohol use disorder (AUD) in 2017.
  • About 38% of adults battled an illegal drug use disease in 2017.
  • One out of every eight adults had both SUD and AUD in the same year.
  • 5 million adults in the U.S. had both SUD and mental health disorders or co-occurring disorders in 2019.
  • Drug addiction causes the U.S. a $740 billion annual loss.

Medical assessment

When you arrive at our alcohol rehab centre you will be assessed by our medical professionals. Your safety is our top priority and we want you to feel as comfortable as possible during your early days at our centre. We will look to review any medication you are currently taking, alongside any other substances you may be struggling with. We will also assess whether you have, or have had previous episodes of mental illness. it is very common for those struggling with addiction to also present symptoms of mental health problems, its our duty to   ensure that your rehab program is tailored towards your individual needs based on our assessment.

Is any medication provided to manage withdrawal?

With opiates and benzodiazepines, you become dependent on having the substance in your body to function normally. This is called physical dependence. Most drugs cause uncomfortable withdrawal symptoms when you stop, but with these drugs, you’d be at risk during the detoxification process if you weren’t medically supervised. Medication helps to ease the worst of your symptoms, and we gradually ease you off the medication as your body gets used to not having the substance.

Psychotherapy

You’ll  take part in a mixture of group and individual therapies. These therapy  sessions are chosen based on your specific requirements. They will help  you to calm down and relax without the need for drugs.

CBT is a talking therapy that has proven to be very useful in helping to  address the emotional and mental aspects of compulsive behaviour and  certain mental illnesses. You work together with the therapist to  achieve a set of predetermined goals that help you to think clearer and   in a way that allows you to take control of your behaviour.

DBT is a highly specialized form of therapy that we offer to some patients. It was originally devised to treat borderline personality disorder, which is characterized by strongly entrenched negative self-beliefs. DBT proved to be most helpful in preventing recurring suicidal thoughts that are often present in that illness. Recent practice has shown this  method can be extremely helpful if you’ve  suffered from repeated relapses and are struggling to find a suitable treatment.
